who we are
GfBC is committed to functioning with a plurality of elders. The term elder is synonymous with the term pastor. However, pastor refers to the function (imperative), while elder refers to the office (indicative). While some churches have elders who function as administrators and pastors who function as ministers, every elder at GfBC is a pastor/teacher.
Currently, GfBC Conroe has only one elder, David Shiflet. He is charged with the preaching, teaching, pastoral ministry and general oversight of the church. He is supported by deacons; Jeff Horner and Michael Rivera These men oversee our benevolence ministry and our facilities.
“So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.”
