Prior to our worship service, we gather in the auditorium for a deliberate time of fellowship (9:45 am), followed by study of the doctrines of our faith. During this “Sunday School” time we study the Word of God and the application of His Word to our everyday lives. Our specific topic varies, providing a range of topics for study and discussion. Guests and all ages are welcome.
Current Series:
In this series we explore the biblical doctrine of rightly ordered love, historically called Ordo Amoris. Scripture calls us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Deut. 6:5; Matt. 22:37), to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matt. 22:39), and to show special care for family and those closest to us (1 Tim. 5:8; Gal. 6:10). All good things are from God (1 Tim. 4:4; James 1:17), and virtue consists in loving them according to their proper place in God’s design. Throughout church history, this scriptural pattern has been consistently affirmed: God first and supreme, then others and creation in due proportion.
When loves are neglected or disordered, such as loving created things above the Creator or neglecting those entrusted to our care, the consequences may be disastrous, individually, in the church, and in our culture at large. Often idolatry, injustice, broken relationships, anxiety, sinful anger, spiritual bondage, and many other evils soon follow from disordered loves. Rightly ordered love cultivates virtue, peace, and faithful obedience.
